75 000 $ pour le tennis scolaire

The Queen Elizabeth Fairmont Hotel hosted the Rogers Cup presented by National Bank Player Party on the evening of Sunday, July 27.

Many players traded in their tennis gear to take part in the gala, wearing the ENVERS creations of designer Yves-Jean Lacasse. The 600 guests were dazzled by the elegance of the stars of the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour, applauding them warmly.

An auction was also on the evening's agenda, amassing an impressive $75,000 for the development of school tennis programs.

Among the items up for auction: four Céline Dion concert tickets; a $1,000 gift certificate for designer Yves-Jean Lacasse's ENVERS boutique; two tickets for the Rogers Cup final; a painting by famous Ukrainian painter Roman Zuzuk; a one-hour doubles match for two people with Aleksandra Wozniak and Stéphanie Dubois on Centre Court at the Uniprix Stadium chaired by Eugène Lapierre; a round of golf at the Saint-Raphaël Golf Club accompanied by professional Carlo Blanchard; two tickets for the final weekend of the Pacific Life Masters in Indian Wells, California; and a racquet autographed by Ana Ivanovic, champion of the 2006 Rogers Cup.

One of the most coveted prizes was a meal for 10 offered by Chef Jean Fortin from the restaurant Le Petit Toscan, served at home by comedians Élise Guilbault and Marc Labrèche. It went for $5,000.

The successful evening marked the launch of the Rogers Cup, running until August 3 at Uniprix Stadium in Montreal.
