Agassi Advances to Quarterfinals

August 11, 2005 - Andre Agassi played nearly perfect tennis to defeat in-form German Nicolas Kiefer 6-4, 6-2 and book a spot in the quarterfinals of the Rogres Cup.

Agassi saved the only break point he faced and won an impressive 90% of the points with his first serve. Kiefer double-faulted at 4-4, 30-40 in the first set to give Agassi the first break, which the American capitalized by closing the set in great fashion.

Agassi used the momentum to break the German in the first set of the second set and rolled on to close the match in 1 hour, 26 minutes of play. He will now face Argentine Gaston Gaudio, who advanced to his first hard court Masters Series quarterfinal of the year.
