Nadal and Gaudio on Top Again
July 11, 2005 - In a busy week of men's tennis three new champions were crowned. At the Allianz Suisse Open in Gstaad, No. 2 seed Gaston Gaudio won his 4 th title of the season defeating Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka 6-4, 6-4.
At the Synsam Swedish Open in Bastad, Spanish phenom Rafael Nadal continued his winning ways defeating Czech Tomas Berdych 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 in the finals. It was the seventh title this season for the French Open winner and his 29 th consecutive win on Clay.
Meanwhile, at the Campbell's Hall of Fame Tennis Championships in Newport, Britain's Greg Rusedski defeated No. 2 seed Vince Spadea 7-6(3), 2-6, 6-4 in the finals. The win marked the second consecutive year and the third time in his career that Rusedski had won this event.
