Red-hot Russian Wins First Title

Russian No. 7 seed Igor Andreev clearly had the Spanish crowd against him, still
he outlasted home-town favorite David Ferrer 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 in the Championship
match of the III Open de Tenis Comunidad Valenciana. For Andreev, the two hour,
nine minute battle clinched his first ATP title in three finals appearances.
Andreev boasts a sizzling 11-9 record this year.
Also this week, in the finals of the Grand Prix Hassan II in Casablanca, No. 6 seed Mariano Puerta of Argentina captured his third career ATP title by defeating countryman Juan Monaco 6-4, 6-1.
This week the ATP tour moves to Monaco for the Masters Series Monte-Carlo.
