Pospisil Hits with Federer Down Under January 31, 2008 Vasek Pospisil, Canada’s top male junior player, was awarded the privilege of hitting with the world’s best at the Australian Open. Pospisil (Vernon, BC) was chosen to be Roger Federer’s warm-up partner before his semifinal match against Novak Djokovic last week. As Pospisil took to the court for the practice, hundreds of fans stood by hoping to get an up-close look at Federer, the closest thing tennis has to royalty. Afterwards, Pospisil claimed it was the most nervous that he has ever been on-court, which was evident by the fact that he didn’t stop shaking until nearly ten minutes into the session. Pospisil, ranked No.30 on the ITF junior rankings, surely enjoyed his entire trip down under as he made it to the doubles final at the Australian Open Junior Championships with partner Cesar Ramirez (Mexico). Perhaps Canada’s tennis future learned a lesson about being a champion from tennis’ present King. |
