Merchant of Tennis Named Official Sports Retailer and Stringer of Rogers Cup March 25, 2008 Tennis merchandiser also becomes Official Silver Sponsor as part of three-year deal Tennis Canada announced Tuesday that tennis specialty retailer The Merchant of Tennis has agreed to a three-year partnership to be the Official Sports Retailer, Official Stringer and Official Silver Sponsor of the Rogers Cup event in Toronto. “We are excited to have Merchant of Tennis as the official retailer, stringer and silver sponsor of the Rogers Cup in Toronto,” said Greg Wood, vice-president, corporate partnerships, Tennis Canada. “This is a company that is truly passionate and dedicated to tennis at all levels. To receive support from them will enhance the Rogers Cup event for players, fans and everyone involved. We welcome this partnership with Merchant of Tennis and look forward to another amazing tournament this summer.” The Merchant of Tennis operates two stores in the Toronto and Oakville, Ontario areas specializing in high-quality tennis merchandise and professional services. As part of the agreement, Merchant of Tennis will station numerous retail booths around the venue establishing a dominant presence and creating an engaging environment for fans. In addition, they will provide an on-site stringing service for all qualifying and main draw players participating in the event. “We are thrilled to be part of a world-class event such as the Rogers Cup tournament,” said Pam Horwood, Merchant of Tennis founder and owner. “We are very focused on making this a fun and memorable retail experience for the fans and we are committed to providing professional level stringing for all tournament players.” Merchant of Tennis has a history of reaching out to the tennis community by participating in various charity events and thus has also agreed to involve itself in fundraising initiatives with Tennis Canada’s Tennis Matters Campaign. This new partnership will be on full display when the men of the ATP Tour return for the Rogers Cup at the Rexall Centre in Toronto from July 19-27, 2008. |
